A Tropical Retreat Center Thoughtfully Designed as a Middle Path
Between Deep Nature Immersion and Modern Comfort.
Sol Temple Retreat Center is a 508(c)(1)(a) nonprofit organization located on five beautiful acres within the lush, vibrant Puna rainforest on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. We are an off-grid, full-amenity eco retreat and wellness center, as well as an organic farm and botanical garden, featuring one of the largest collections of vireya rhododendrons in the Pacific.
Accommodations include thoughtfully situated cabins nestled throughout the five-acre botanical garden, providing a sense of privacy and deep connection to nature. Additional lodging is available in the main community hale (house), with options ranging from quad rooms (two bunk beds) to doubles and private single accommodations in both cabins and rooms.
Our gathering spaces include a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with catering equipment; indoor and outdoor sheltered dining and lounge areas; shaded, multi-use outdoor spaces for movement, workshops, or ceremonies; an imu pit (traditional Hawaiian underground oven); and our signature 1,100 sq ft geodesic pyramid temple, designed as an intentional sacred space for events and ceremonial experiences.
We are also a small organic farm featuring over 75 tropical fruit trees, including eleven varieties of citrus, four varieties of banana, starfruit, avocado, lilikoi, Bolivian mangosteen, wild berries, coffee, Brazilian grapes, Surinam cherries, guava, and papaya. In addition, we cultivate ground crops such as pineapple, squash, and sweet potato, along with a greenhouse dedicated to leafy greens and herbs.
They call it the Big Island for a reason—adventure is everywhere. From lava tube cave tours and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, featuring one of the world’s most active volcanoes, to the gorgeous shore of Kehena Black Sand Beach, the lush beauty of ʻAkaka Falls and Rainbow Falls, the high-elevation Mauna Loa Observatory, and the dramatic cliffs of the Hāmākua Coast, guests have countless options to explore the magic of the most diverse island in the Pacific.
